The Level 1 Sampler shows stitches and techniques used in most Bunka Embroidery kits and was designed to help the student learn this in a methodical, easy to understand way. The student practices each technique on the sampler before applying it to a kit. The sampler was also designed to be used in combination with the instruction book Bunka Embroidery Basics; Stitches and Techniques by Darlene Cormier. The book uses easy to understand language and is fully illustrated.
This sampler is best learned from a qualified teacher and when used in combination with the instruction book and recommended kit "Pansies in Crystal" will help the student gain the skill and confidence to complete most of the kits in the Tokyo Bunka Catalogue.
Alternatively, short instructional videos are available for viewing on this website for those who want to try Bunka Embroidery on their own or don't have access to a teacher.
